I know Joni has touched so many people in so many different ways it is almost unfathomable, but that is what a true artist can do. One who has travelled through each decade, learning, experiencing and teaching the way she has. I’ve not come across a finer song-writer, nor have I witness someone who has the ability to incorporate so many styles and experiences into their work in just one decade.
I think of her work from 1970 Ladies of the Canyon through to 1980 Mingus and think, wow, and that is just the 70’s! Her early/later work, just as good!
Each album is very special to me, but the one I would have to say I cling on to the most would be Hejira. The album that no matter how many times I listen to it and know all the words, it still manages teaches me something new upon each listen, with a new experience. I call it my bible *p.s. don’t tell god*
